The copy, written by Several Sources Shelters, gives the potential donors a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes workings of the shelter and its effects on the families it helps.

Part of the success is the grass-roots approach to design and copy, and the use of sincere, touching photographs to help paint the bigger picture.

Components usually include an insert, prayer card, 4-page letter, BRE, reply card and outer envelope. Ballantine handles the design, printing and mailing.
