Far too many people ignore LinkedIn when considering a social media marketing plan to reach out to new customers, but LinkedIn is actually one of the most promising platforms on which to network.
Here are three tips you can use right now to start turning connections into customers on LinkedIn.
1. Update your status on LinkedIn. You can use this much in the same way you’d use a Facebook or Twitter feed. Consider cross-posting some of your Twitter marketing messages to your LinkedIn account (when appropriate).
2. Announce events, workshops, webinars and more via the Messages feature. You can send a message to up to 50 contacts at one time, so it may take a few messages to reach out to your full list of connections, but it’s well worth it. LinkedIn is one of the least-spammed social network sites, so people generally read things that come into their Inbox. You can use this to your advantage.
3. Join groups and start connecting with other people. It’s called a networking tool for a reason – it helps you make connections. You still have to go out and use the tool to build your network of connections. You can meet lots of people in a short amount of time by being active and involved in some smaller groups in your area of expertise or interest.
