Test
Summary and Results
Reason
Magazine's control is a 6x9 package using the soft offer of one
free issue. They tested this control against a high-impact magalog
with a hard offer. The
results? When all costs were accounted
for, the 6x9 control package was 27 cents more profitable per
net paid subscriber -- even after factoring in some short-term
roll out projections for a limited universe.
"We're
not done with the magalog though," says Michele Jones,
Circulation Director for Reason. "As we work towards successfully
increasing our mail volume in the near future, the magalog should
become more cost effective and hopefully surpass the economics
of Reason's control."
Reason
is currently testing the control against two similar packages-
one with a semi-hard offer and the other omitting the 3-panel
brochure. Look
for results in a future issue of our newsletter.
